Kratz Sporting has long enjoyed good name recognition in Southern Indiana. The modest brown building at the corner of Beckett Street and South Clark Boulevard in old Clarksville dates back to 1914, when Edwin Kratz opened an ice cream store, and shortly thereafter, a grocery store at the site. The business, Clarksville's oldest continuously operated one, passed to Edwin's son, Norman, who eventually turned it into a sporting Goods store. After a modest start, selling three rubber playground balls to an area elementary school in 1957, Norman and Lois Kratz eventually turned their store into a household name Kratz Sporting Goods specializes in providing teams and schools with uniforms, footwear and equipment in Indiana and Northern Kentucky In 1978 Leonard Krebs, an economics teacher and high school basketball coach, and his wife Meri bought the business, since then it has grown into one of the most respected sporting goods stores in the state of Indiana. Customers are the most important part of the business and every business decision made by Kratz Sporting Goods is made with the customer in mind. The goal of Kratz Sporting Goods is to provide the best quality athletic equipment, with the best possible service, at a fair price to the customer. |
